Mr. Drakulić: empowerment of municipalities and encouraging investors to invest in underdeveloped municipalities is one of the priorities

While talking about local development at the two-day conference on development of new models of tourism and their sustainability, on Saturday, 19 November 2016, the Assistant Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, Nebojša Drakulić stated that priorities of the Provincial Government were investments, new jobs, empowerment of local self-governments and that the goal was to encourage investors to invest into less developed municipalities.

– This year, we in the Secretariat, intensified our visits to local self-governments, since our goal is to have an insight into the actual existing capacities and present to municipalities our plan to turn to external sources of financing, instead of the budget. Our goal is to build local capacities in order for them to be able to actively seek external sources of financing, either foreign investments or projects which will provide finance from foreign funds, primarily available EU funds, said Assistant Secretary Drakulić, at the introductory session of the second day of the conference.

The 8th EIAT Conference was organised by the Centre for Tourism Research and Studies, supported by and in partnership with the Provincial Government, Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication, German International Cooperation, Central European Initiative (CEI), the City of Subotica and Tourist Organisations of Serbia, Vojvodina and Montenegro.
