INTER-REGIONAL COOPERATION AND LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT
The President of the Provincial Government Mr Igor Mirović talked today via video link to the President of the Italian region of Lombardy Attilio Fontana about the current cooperation and the ways to intensify it.
“The fact that the Italian side initiated this conference speaks volumes about the importance of our cooperation. Lombardy is our role model in many areas and it is one of the most developed regions from which we can learn a lot” – said President Mirović, reminding us that the Cooperation Agreement of two provinces was signed in 2018.
According to President Mirović, AP Vojvodina and Lombardy have a successful and long-standing cooperation especially in the economic sector. As he stated, this is especially important since this Italian region is among the first in the world to be hit by the Covid 19 pandemic.
“There is a lot of room to intensify cooperation, foremost in the areas of agriculture, culture and science. There are strong and well developed scientific-technological parks in Lombardy and it is significant to hear their experience and apply them in our Scientific-technological park”, said Mirović.
Italian regions are the second partner in terms of the overall exchange of Vojvodina and a very important foreign trade partner of our country”, added Mirović.
“The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Provincial Government sent aid to Italy when it needed it the most, which is the proof of our friendship and good cooperation that we will intensify through the projects of the economic development” said Attilio Fontana.
Under-secretary of Lombardy region in charge of international relations Alan Christian Rizzi said that their region was interested in the cooperation in agricultural projects, those of sustainable development, circular economy and automotive industry.
Aleksandar Sofić, Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government also attended the video conference.
